You Slowly Disappear
Long before you're gone, some have said goodbye;
they start to look beyond you as you age.
You slowly disappear before you die.
They look you up and down; subtly imply
you're no longer fit to earn a real wage.
Long before you're gone, some have said goodbye.
Looking back with fondness and a little sigh
once, who and what you are were all the rage;
you slowly disappear before you die
No longer star or even the standby;
before you knew it, shifted off the stage.
Long before you're gone, some have said goodbye.
Although beyond belief, you can't deny;
the younger in your book; have turned the page.
You slowly disappear before you die.
The sun, though low, still glimmers in the sky
so why, you ask yourself with just outrage,
long before you're gone, some have said goodbye?
You slowly disappear before you die.
