You Read the Books I Read the People

Is it the ignorance that you exploit
or is it the confidence that they appoint
when something’s so stupid it wasn’t considered
it was overlooked and therefore it delivered
something so dumb that it isn’t suspected
creeps through the net totally undetected

If they think you’re blonde then it’s there too play up to
straight through the pigeon hole they’ve put before you

only the dumb place people in categories
a lack of foresight from those not visionaries
intelligent people can lose their advantage
thinking it is so easy they don’t need to manage

I meet expectations they think are true
by playing it dumb so they haven’t a clue
then it’s bad luck or some sort of coincidence
never suspecting of planned incidence

but most people see there’s a point to be proved
trying to show they’re not stupid as accused
but why would I care when they think me so low
just take the room they’ve given and use it to go
you wanna see stupid then that’s what you’ll see
you’re looking for stupid then that’s what I’ll be

Even if I’m stupid I’m still better than you
judging people in the way that you do
absorb information and calculate too
but reading people isn’t within your view
missing the variable from your equation
and that variant is there for exploitation

a full gone conclusion ahead of the game
that prediction is destined to bring shame
you’ve worked me out and you seek indicators
but I’ve worked you out from all your behaviours
you think my awareness can’t cope and won’t notice
and as a result I move out of your focus

I just do dumb things when you’re in the room
doing exactly what you have assumed
you might have the grammar the maths or the science
you’re playing a game that I win with defiance
cus people have played this game throughout my life
the signs are something I can see without light

It’s simple I just meet the bar that you’ve set
you shouldn’t judge people you’ve only just met
it’s done too manipulate for selfish gain
there aren’t many victories put in your name
that shallow vanity used to feed the ego
someone below wanting better than equal

I don’t meet people and need to compete
but you do because you’re so hopelessly weak
so think me as lesser and I’ll better you
after it’s happened you’ll be left confused

you do this because of an instinctive need
something you’re not that you wish you could be
something you’re not but you see it in me
I guess clever doesn’t solve insecurity
