You Led Me To Believe

It's so incredible that a while back
you led me to believe
that we would have taken that road to happiness;
It's so incredible that a while back
you led me to believe
all the words had the flame of hope...
you led me to believe
that living life with excitement
was worthwhile and full of smiles...
nothing made me grope
for illusions and remain in perplexed thought.

Many were the memories of two happy hearts,
and doubts didn't exist to cover up lies;
we felt that closeness and shared it,
others envied us and wished they had it!
We built a house that dwelled in devoted love and stone by stone,
we finished it feeling sublime joy, hoping God would bless us more!

It's so incredible that a while back
you led me to believe
that we needed each other
and resist the temptations when another
smile could have deceived us without a threat;
it's so incredible that a while back
you led me to believe
that breaking a promise would cost a break-up,
a painful sense of regret...
can we avoid it and rethink the excuses we made up?
Is it really worth being untrue
and wind up lonely with a plausible clue?
