You Know

I love you, there I've said it
Even though you already knew
There's just something about saying those three small words
That bring them to life when I say them to you

They're not meant to be spoken in passing
Like to someone who's done something nice
But instead to be spoken with passion
In the manner of saying them twice

In my heart I've known for quite some time
That I felt this way about you
But only recently have I been able to express myself
In these words that tell you I do

I look to the day when these words will be turned
From just words to a hug or a kiss
Not the kind that are given between family and friends
The kind whose meaning one cannot dismiss
