You Knew It Was Good

It was a long time ago.
But I remember it well.
I bought into your logic.
It was a really hard sell.
We lived too far apart
and we had our whole life ahead.
We both agreed it was best.
Cold logic became the words of regret.
My heavy heart was a lump in my throat.
The disbelief left me in a cold sweat.
It was a lie when I said i agreed
and I haven't gotten over you yet.
We would talk on the phone for hours sometimes.
Convincing each other we did the right thing.
I never met anyone that made me feel like you did.
One smile from you and I could face anything.
Have you ever loved someone
and really needed them bad?
Have you ever thought of someone
as the best you ever had?
Do you wonder how we could call it quits
and still think about each other everyday?
If we tried harder and knew what we had
would we still be together today?
Do you still reach for me at night
only to find that I'm not there?
Do you still lie to yourself
and pretend you don't care?
Do you still remember me baby?
Sure, I knew you would.
Like it was just the first time
and You knew it was good.
