You Just Let Me Be Me

In my times of joy,

You laugh with me,

You seem to revel in it,

And you just let me be me.

In my time of solitude,

You sit quietly with me,

Understanding that need,

And you just let me be me.

In my time of frustration,

You let me express it,

And sometimes not express it,

And you just let me be me.

In my time of sadness and crying,

You listen quietly,

Or seem to know and take my hand,

And you just let me be me.

In my time of trials,

You listen and give advice,

And you let me work it through,

And you just let me be me.

Through it all,

You stand by me,

Praying for me diligently,

and all the time just letting me be me.

And then when I need it the most,

You tell me you appreciate me,

And even when I question it,

You just reaffirm it,

And let me be me.

I wonder if your out there,

in this great big world,

the man who will truly love me,

and just let me be me.
