You Have the Power

It's done minute by minute which adds up to
An hour.
I feel your pain.
Don't give up you have the power
To give up these addictions that your body
Wants you to devour.
It will take a while yet, you'll show where the
Craving has wane.
It's done minute by minute which adds up to
An hour.
You raise your standards higher instead of lower
It's hard to abstain.
Don't give up you have the power
Go take a shower
It will help your brain.
It's done minute by minute which adds up to
An hour
Don't cower
You will sustain
Don't give up you have the power
A new you is about to flower
Your life you will regain.
It's done minute by minute which adds up to
An hour.
Don't give up you have the power.

Thank you again Bette; I just read it to him. He said it is very powerful. ~And we have met here, before this nom de plume I used my real name, Maureen McGreavy. Have a wonderful day! xomo

I am checking in and I hope thinks are going well for you guys. We had 17 family members who came down with covid. Three died. The others have finally tested negative. Every time our 8 month grandbaby would have to go to the hospital my heart would be in my throat. I hope you two are safe and doing great.

That is a lot of heart ache, and a lot of love! I lost my mother at age 50 from cigarettes, I'm two years away from that milestone myself, and so relieved I have kicked that habit. That is wonderful anout your husband. Leading by example I am hopeful my honey will follow; I have overhauled my life after finally figuring out my traumatic brain injury and how to mend myself. Warm hugs!

Hello Maureen. It surely is nice to hear that you read my poem to him. I lost a 37 yr old daughter to drugs who tried to quit many times, I have a 45 yr old daughter almost off of drugs, I have a 39 yr old son trying to quit drugs. My husband is now sober 7 yrs. I am glad my 41 yr old son is now 1 yr. sober. I am thankful I have 7 children who are not on anything. Maureen my prayers are with you both. Thank you for letting me know. It warms my heart. You have made my day. Love to you.

This is so good Bette. That line is perfect, "It's done minute by minute which adds up to an hour". I might try that one on my partner, he's an alcoholic. I have quit everything bad for me, from tobacco to potatoes. Excellent ink, warm hugs your way. xomo

Thank you. It is nice to meet you. Congratulations on quitting all that stuff. Some people have the power to quit things easier than others. I quit smoking years ago with no trouble. On the alcoholic he needs AA. It is by working with another alcoholic and the program that a person can be free of drinking. I will keep him in my prayers. Plus for yourself I would suggest Alanon. It works if you work the program. I am Alanon. I am glad you liked my poem. Have a great day. Please stay in touch.
