You Have My Word

When the voices sound
Ever more desperate
And they call to you
In variations on a theme
You know all too well
I'll be there

When they inscribe in you
A taste for self loathing
In the blink of an eye
They provide thousands upon thousands of reasons
Why there's just no point, no drive
To make it work
To give it worth
I'll be there

On the dark side of the moon
Where no one will ever find you
You could cry in silence
You can hide from the world
Protect yourself from harshest judgments
Wrought upon your soul

Just know this one thing
When you're ready to understand
Why life feels so empty
And the world can't give you what you want
Call upon me
And I'll be there

I may not appear in the flesh
Or sound the trumpets on my arrival
But I promise you
I'll be there to comfort you
and I will never leave

The emotion comes through your words in this one. Much to think about here. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us and for taking time to comment on my poem. Karen
