You Don'T Know Me

You glance at me
Or fix me with your gaze
You look at me as though
You know me
Or fear me
You don't know me
Inward and outward my scars
Are not yours
To peruse or contemplate
Your fears are not mine to soothe
I would however tell you
That I am just like you
I feel,I think, I breathe in
The moonlit night,the salty day
Just as you do
When I am wounded  I weep
And I laugh when trouble evaporates
I love with my whole heart and being
Just as you do
And when darkness takes over my life
I would like you to reach out a hand
A simple gesture
Encourage me but don't pity me
Don't stare at me 
As if you fear me
Or know me
You don't know me
