You Did It First
The day you took your life,
You destroyed our family.
Unrepairable damage,
You couldn’t possibly foresee.
But you were caught up in your own pain,
And you needed it to cease.
So, you went for the immediate fix.
And with a bullet, you sought your release.
I live with the guilt every day,
But it’s not something people see.
Because no one knows my dark secret.
Nobody, but me.
Everyone thinks I have it together,
But some days, I feel like I’m the worst.
Knowing, the only reason that I am still alive,
Is because you did it first.
