You Can'T Take the Memories Away

You can take all the love that we once knew –
You can take all my dreams that won’t come true.
You can take all the hopes that maybe you’ll stay
but you can’t take the memories away.

You can leave me alone, unhappy and blue –
You can leave this poor heart, broken in two.
You can take all you choose if you go away
but you can’t take the memories away.

No, you can’t take all the memories with you
because they’re a part of me too.
So, if you should choose to come back some day,
just let your memories show you the way.

Then when you’re alone and thinking of me –
With your hair turned from golden to gray,
Maybe you’ll find I’m still on your mind
and you can’t make the memories go away.

No, you can’t take all the memories with you
because they’re a part of me too.
So, if you should choose to come back some day,
just let your memories show you the way.

Thank you Annie. This is one a friend of mine put music to. It turned out to be a nice little song. I write a lot of material that fits the Country genre. I'm thankful I never had to write for a living.....Jake
