You Are Never Really Alone
You Are Never Really Alone
Kevin Davis 2025
You wake up
with fear sitting heavy in your eyes,
like it got there before you did,
like it’s been waiting
to tell you the end
or the beginning
of your life
is already written.
But listen—
in the shadows,
there’s always a spark.
A stubborn little ember
that refuses to go out.
So, sit down.
Breathe deep.
Let your lungs remind you
that you’re still here,
and that being here
is already a kind of fight.
Think of the people
who hold you in the quiet corners
of their lives.
And if no one comes to mind,
don’t let that twist into despair.
Because loneliness lies.
Fear lies.
And somewhere out there
is someone who would sit beside you
without needing a single word.
Maybe it’s the one
who smiled at you once
like they saw something worth knowing.
Maybe it’s the voice
that asked if you were okay
on a day you didn’t even realize
you weren’t.
Maybe it’s someone
you haven’t met yet
but who’s already walking
toward your story.
Even in the darkest night,
stars still insist on shining.
Even in the heaviest morning,
the sun still climbs.
And you—
you are not built to do this alone.
There are voices,
real ones,
human ones,
on the other end of a phone
who will stay with you
until the shaking stops.
There are hands
that will steady you
when yours won’t hold still.
Reach out.
Call.
Speak.
Let someone meet you
where you are.
Because life—
your life—
is a gemstone carved by pressure,
shaped by time,
and worth more
than fear will ever admit.
And no matter how dire it feels,
you are never alone.
