You Are My Angel

You come running from your mother’s front door with your arms open wide
Your smile beaming as you look me in the eyes
The earth could open up and I would be there to catch you
Holding you tight and making sure your dreams come true

The heavens could open up with the most horrendous thunder storm
And I would be there, umbrella in hand protecting from the rain and hailstorm
The devil himself could climb up from the pits of hell
And I would stand tall, strong and defeat him with god’s bombshell

Because you are my angel, you are my daughter
No father in the world would lead you to the slaughter
Protecting you in life is my duty and hopefully I’m doing well at this
You are my life! Your happiness brings me constant bliss

When you are older and have your own family I hope you can look back
And realise that you were always in my thoughts, I always kept your life on track
From behind the scenes, pulling strings and protecting you from harm
Making sure any persons meaning you pain would be silently disarmed

Thank you for being my world and making every day worth while
Thank you for being the inspiration of my life and making me smile
