You Are Gone

It's the sorrow no king can heal
The pain that surrounds is so real;
Now your pillow lays there cold,
There's nothing but space for me to hold.

So in my bed I lie alone,
Not knowing where you have gone;
No matter how hard I tried,
Still you were unsatisfied.

I remember when you belonged to me,
But now I need to set you free.
I think of loss and weep with pain,
To find the loss was all in vain.

I'll look back for one last gaze,
When time we spent were happier days;
But all the pipedreams that you wove,
Meant nothing more than loss of love.

Still the memory of your smile,
Lingers in my heart awhile;
But life is charted well for you,
As you leave the old to find the new.

It is hard to leave but I cannot stay,
For my hurt is sore so I'll walk away;
It hurts to be empty but I'll be filled again,
It's just a matter of how not when.

Even the saddest of your poems have a measure of hope and resolution. Your final verse made me feel much better! Well done Elizabeth!! Love, Keith :)

I enjoy your poems very much Elizabeth! You could even say I loave them.:) That's in reference to your rhyme of wove and love. Kind of takes the fun out of ribbing when you feel the need to explain what your saying. hhhhhhh:)

Enjoyed reading your work today. This is a sad but beautiful piece. It has a nice rhythm and flow to it. Nice expression, love the last line, although about something sad its a nice positive end. Best wishes to you Em :)

This poem shows pain, lost love and that empty feeling when love is lost in your heart. So sad but so true and you penned it so well. I love the last line it shows the survivor inside. God Bless Phyl

great poem of loss and the pain and emptiness that go along with it, you also emerge from your pain hopeful , knowing that you will love again
