You Are Always There

I built my life around a dream They said could not come true. They laughed out loud when they found out I’d set my heart on you. It’s good to see their faces now. It’s nice to feel them stare. For when they see me nowadays, You are always there. If I should live a thousand years --- As long as I can dream --- If I can always touch your heart And make your blue eyes gleam, I’ll know, for sure, you came along As answer to my prayers, For, I can turn around and see, You are always there. When I need a friendly face, You are always there. When I need a fond embrace, You are always there. You are always there When life seems so unfair. I’m glad when each new morning comes You are always there.

It is so nice to have those around you that love you. What more could anyone ask for?...Wonderful work!...This reminds me of my poem titled, "And Nothing Else Matters".

A great piece! I hardly ever run into a poem with this kind of flow to it so you must be a serious poetry student. I do have a suggestion though: you start out with 8.6.8.6. meter but then there are a few deviations, if you want to, you can add words like "and" or "then" to many of the lines that are one syllable too short and the flow would be better because it would consistently start on an unstressed syllable. Just my opinion:)

You are right in your assessment of my poem. However, it was written as a song lyric and the last stanza was meant to be a chorus. Thanks for the review.. You will note a slight change in line 6 of stanza 2. It fits much better now..... Jake
