You Are a Soldier
You Are A Soldier
How I wish the words would come forward
And speak of the pride felt within my heart
When I discovered
How you laid down your life
And marched away from home to do your part
How I wish you knew the hours
I cried for you in prayer
You were the stranger that I loved
Fighting a war
For an elite society that never cared
You shouldered burdens
No man can endure
Your fight was for freedom
Of a country you held pure
Then the reality set in
War is a fight one does not win
And if you were lucky
You returned again
To your country
Lead by corrupt men
With hearts polluted by sin
And you struggle wondering why
You feel
If it came right down to it
You would do it all again
It is because you are a soldier
