You and I

You and I,

I think of how you
Let me in,
The way that you were
Opening,
I never felt so
Good inside,
I didn’t need a
Place to hide,
I knew you from
Another time,

You and I,

Couldn’t see
Beyond our touch,
Couldn’t plan ahead
That much,
The awful line
Has now been crossed,
And what we had
Has all been lost,
Replaced with nothing
But regret.

You and I,

I wish there was
Another way,
I feel the same on
Every day,
We’ll never know what
Could have been,
I loved the way
Our hearts were then,
I won't forget
How good that felt,

You and I.
