You and I
You hit me with your fists
You grabbed me by my hair
You choked my voice hoarse
You left your fingerprints there.
You branded me every kind of *****
You sexed me against my will
You hurt me so much, I'm numb
You took my power to feel.
You lied to me constantly
You took my heart and used it
You took my love for granted
You had it and you abused it.
You made everything about you
You were a thorn in my side
You picked the rose to crush it
You destroyed her life and she died.
Or did she?
I refused to let you break my spirit
I refused to let you take my soul
I refused to let you break me in half
I was determined to remain whole.
I loved you at your lowest
I loved you despite it all
I loved you beyond your faults
I loved your every flaw.
I no longer hurt because of you
I feel now, I'm no longer numb
I have found a piece of happiness
I am a woman who has overcome.
I want to thank you for the lesson
I have learned a lot from you
I now know what I'm capable of
I now know what I can push through.
