Yesterday's
When dawn breaks, and the darkness lifts
The nightmares go away.
Wake up, shake it off.
It's a brand new day, today.
This time you can't quite shake it off,
the darkness still ensues.
Today feels like a yesterday,
When it's a tomorrow you could use.
You wake up to this loneliness,
you've known many times before
You thought you'd rid yourself of it,
that it wouldn't come around anymore.
It follows you like a dark cloud,
full of unkind words, secrets & lies.
It pours sadness, angst and fear upon you,
from the beautifully coloured skies.
You're drenched with this sadness,
it drips from head to toe.
When yesterday's leave you emptier,
than anyone will ever know.
