Yesterdays
Yesterdays
A choo, choo train,
An aeroplane,
A teddy for the bed,
Muffin the mule
First day at school,
Jam on toasted bread,
Dirty faces,
From mucky places,
Found in the alleyway,
Lots to do,
For a life that’s new,
It seems like yesterday!
Out for a lark,
Football in park,
Making loads of noise,
Showing off,
Just because,
We are the teenage boys,
No girl’s allowed,
And then we found,
We saw them in a different way,
Different plans,
Holding hands,
It seems like yesterday!
Down to pub,
For a pint and grub,
Drinking the whole night through,
I can drink it all,
Is the greatest call,
For those of twenty two,
Pounding head,
Eyes all red,
Pleading “Go away!”
Recovering fast,
So another glass,
It seems like yesterday!
It’s hard to see,
And I want to pee.
But if I go, I’ll go again,
It’s no fun,
When you cannot run,
Cos you ache and feel the pain,
There’s times I miss,
When I reminisce,
I want to go and play,
Of things that’s been,
I often dream,
For the long lost yesterday!
