Yesterday`s Wishes Poetry Contest

Sponsored by Craig Cornish

Yesterday`s Wishes My yesterday`s wishes have turned sweet-sour: I had wished a public body to head, I toiled day and night to reach the tower And through hard work to attain the hotbed. At last my star in the sky had shone bright, The divinities had scanned my wishes From darkness of night I was drawn to light In fulfilment of previous near-misses. Ere long envious eyes vied for the hot seat And did not fail to stab me in the back, Hurl me in a ditch all alone to bleed And seals of impunity did not lack. Soon forced to quit the seat of the tower Not out of any incompetency But to rope in a friend of new masters, All dreams shattered through loss of sole duty. With clouds of stress singly shrouding my health Living just turned into a daily strife, Yesterday`s wishes were buried at length, Now light of inner self kindles my life.
