Yesterday
Faces from yesterday's thoughts
take me down memory's fading road.
Silent pictures are condemned in books,
leaving me with the past's heavy load.
Scribbled notes from far away pens
stain the fragile paper of my heart.
Lost voices haunt my living mind,
taking my emotional puzzle apart.
I regret the loss of yesterday's ship,
for it created the character of my soul.
As I journey through today's fluid lands,
my spirit yearns to become whole.
I am teased by promises of tomorrow,
and fooled by the troubles of today.
My human eyes filter the colors of change,
while grief sends wisdom my way.
