Yesterday

YESTERDAY
Dr. James E. Martin
©January, 2014

Yesterday I wondered as I sat at meat
All of my worries I could not defeat.
My thoughts were many,
Troubles compounded anew
Seemed impossible to ignore
So present and new!
Far into the night and sleepless thought
Away from all that I had earlier sought.

Now I am more confused than before
It does not appear that I can take much more.
Looks like I’m doomed to extended pain
As problems I could never easily explain.
Though everyone experiences these times in life
They're certainly much more than common strife.
Here is an answer some hastily say
To which I reply, “there is simply no way!”
Stay and I’ll show you this sorrowful display!

Oh I guess things would be worse
I could more than these few troubles rehearse.
Believe me when I to you confess
In troubles like these there is much distress.
Yesterday came and is now in the past!
