Yesterday

If I could guide the younger me
I'd encourage her to just be free
Not to worry of her size
Or wishing that she had blue eyes

I'd let her know that's it's OK
To be herself in any way
To enter rooms with head held high
Not keep her gaze down or be too shy

Smile a lot and speak with pride
Not say nothing or try to hide
You're young, you're funny, pretty too
Yet no one really knows but you

Live life well and enjoy yourself
Don't stay at home or sit on a shelf
Sing out loud and laugh all day
Before your dreams are of yesterday
