Yelled Silence

my words lost on your ears
deaf to the world.
the world can't be your oister
when it's black
falling upon closed eyes.
goodness knows, i tried.
so hard my screams were as shrill
as your refusal to acknowledge them.
people ask me if you left that night.
i shake my head.
i tell them,
you were gone long before that.
