She says over glasses low on her nose – You think I don’t love you? Heaven knows, how you make me want to swear. Love is pre washing your underwear. Oh! How a man can sweat and stink! Dishes just pitched in the bathroom sink, Dirty clothes on the floor and pick up, pick up, pick up! It seems we’re always people’s gossip. And you think that I can’t see? You hear every word I say. And by the way, you think you’re having your way. I give and give and you want more! You just think it’s what I’m for. I bend and bow, you push and shove. Now that’s what I call true love. So many years, for goodness sake. You’d cause any heart to ache! He twinkles through glasses high on his nose – You make me swear and heaven knows! But that girl on her swing, she's just as pretty now. No, don’t give me that look, I haven’t a clue as to how. All those years without a word, bouquets of flowers and midnight showers... You think that I can’t see? Your eyes get a glow like a fawning doe. And I know you know what you’ve said, I heard. It’s just that I can’t remember a word. You give and give and yes, I take. You bake, I eat the cake. I am a man after all. You’re the cushiony pillow and I, implacable wall. I’ve been a good husband, except for one eye. I am after all a guy. After so many years, I look at you and ache. You’d cause any heart to break! He twinkles through glasses high on his nose. She smiles, you were always the one for a pose. Holding the photo, her fingers trace her memories, his glossy face. All those years. And you never said you loved me. But I know in your sleep, you dream only me.

So lovely and clever, Mark. I like the way you imaged both from the husband and wife's point of view. Being married nearly 57 years, I can somewhat relate! Congratulations on your fine win! Sandra

Yes pre-washing... I like that thought.. Mark, sometimes I wonder why after so many years, love becomes a silent voice. I like the ending, we know at the end of every day.... Hugs LINDA
