Year of Graduations

A year ago I watched you graduate from High School
Knowing your next chapter was going to be page turning
Like no other
A month ago I was honored to watch you graduate yet again
A Marine!
Today you graduated from MCT
Though I am not there to see you
I close my eyes and I am there with you
I see your shoulders set in pride
Your steps strong
Your hand sliding down your uniform checking that all is aligned
As you get ready to head to the next page
I find myself wanting to read slower
And absorb every word
Not yet ready to turn the next page
But I know you are ready
Congrats Marine as you start writing
For your next chapter.
My promise to you is
I will never stop reading!

The poem made me think of love and sacrifice dedication - selflessness - perseverance
