Clay, are you sure it is not pronounced Yo-se-mi-tee? This one sticks in my mind because all my life I was calling it Yo sa mite until one day I got corrected! (I just checked Youtube and heard a really funny pronunciation lesson about it. It IS four syllables like I said!!) BTW, this is a really nice poem about it, so peaceful!

Andrea, I did exercise Poetic License. The pronounciation (P.) I used was in part by choice so that I could have the final stanza use the thought of "Inspirational Light" due to J. Muir's belief that the glacier polished granitic rock in the Sierra Nevada mntns. would capture and reflect lite in profound beauty that he nick-named the Seirra range, "The Range of Light". Secondly the correct P. of "Yo-Sim-a- Te" has been mispronounced pert' near since the 1st Euro-American spoke it; so for a bit of levity I used YO-SA-MITE. I could have rhymed YO-sim-a Tee with "Inspirational Glee" When I recite this for folks I get a kick out of the way my use of the name of this jewel of a valley initiates conversation over P. and reminiscence over their learning the correct way to P., "Yo-SIM-a-Te." Thanks for not disappointing me here. love, (:D)) cr

Thanks for the trip to this wonderful place of mystery, Clay. The imagery in this Couplet is beautiful...I really love the fifth stanza. Thoroughly enjoyed this today. Annalise
