Would You Hear

If I spoke to you of springtime, Would you hear a single word? Would you hear the dancing of the leaves, Or the singing of a bird? And if I spoke of summer, Would you listen carefully... To the chirping of the crickets Or the buzzing of a bee? Then should I speak of autumn Of the red-orange leaves in fall; Would you hear the seasons turning... Would you hear them change, at all? But what if come the winter As the trees are caked with snow-- Would you hear the wind traverse the wood... Then listen to it blow? ~M

Thank you Robert. Nice to know someone cares :) I have posted some poems on Facebook, but that's different...not much feedback there. I did write one the other day which I might post, but I can't think of a title. Oh well. My love to you and your wife. The best to both of you, and look for that poem....it's about the muted tones of yesterday...about change...coming soon! Take care...Mel

Hi Anne-Lise! Nice to hear from you. Thank you for reading the poem and for commenting on it. The seasons do speak to me, but I sometimes fail to listen. Be well, my dear...xoxo...Mel

I would surely listen, Mel. You have a wonderful way with words, rhymes and meter. Makes it such a pleasure to read. I loved you 4 seasons and how the flowed into each other. Very well done, my friend.... Robert.

Thank you, Robert. I appreciate your kind words of encouragement. Meter, boring as it sounds, is what allows my words to "flow," and is the reason I am drawn towards rhyme vs free-verse. Thank you again for your astute and intelligent commentary...inspiring!

This write was sixteen lines of gold my friend. Last stanza was a huge diamond placed right into the sweet spot!!! I know your life is busy but a few more writes each week would be a very welcomed thing for us here to enjoy my friend. Know this, you are in my estimation a very , very good poet!!!! Life's ups and downs come and go but words often live on far past our time in the dust, the strife, the blessing in such a short life.. Fav'ing this poem for it's deep insight and life meaning !!!!!!

Hi Robert! How nice to hear from you, and such words of support and encouragement! I read your comment and I was moved by it. Perhaps as long as there are nice people like you who will read and appreciate my writes, then maybe I should pick-up the pen :) Thank you for the inspirational words, and for stopping by to say hello. My best to you and yours...Mel

Thank you, Keith. There was a time when I lived for this site, but as the reading dropped off, I went elsewhere. I do appreciate hearing from you, though; reminds me of how it used to be :) Take care, my friend. Till we meet again...Mel

Thank you, my sweet. I think of you from time-to-time, and wonder. Funny, this site was everything to me for awhile--the creative compulsive nature, I suppose. I will look for you in the future, even though you are from Texas lol. Hugs...Mel

Hi Mel! I like listening to what you have to say through your poetry. You are a romantic at heart and your writes are always a joy to read. I do try to visit as much as possible, but time is never on my side; even my writing suffers in the process. Don't be disheartened my friend:) // paul

Thank you Paul. I appreciate your kind words and encouragement. As my following dwindled here, I turned my efforts to Facebook where I have, The Poet's Corner (a poem a day, if I can manage it), and, Quote of the Day, t hopefully edify and inspire. Thank you again for the read, and for your keen insight--always welcome...mel

I really love how you described each season, especially winter - as the trees are caked in snow - I never heard it described like that. Great write Mel :) Ana

Hi Linda, and thank you for stopping by. Good to hear from you and know that I'm not forgotten :) Lately, I've put my efforts into Facebook, where I post poems and quotes, and with 3,000 friends, or some silly thing, I get more feedback there than I did from here. I'll drop by and post now and then, regardless. Be well, my dear...xox...Mel

I always could count on you for support, kitten. This popped in my head while sitting at a Starbucks, but that's how it works with me. I hope you and Abby are well and happy. One of these days I will send you a mail. Keep on smilin', babe. I hope your back is okay; mine hurts like a...fill in the blank. Love and hugs...xoxo...Mel
