World Without Rhyme
Have you ever stopped to wonder
Just how awful it would be
In a world without rhyme
If we had no poetry
How would we express ourselves
If we couldn't write it down
No one to tell our troubles to
No solace could be found
No one to hear our heartaches
Would we just explode?
Or would we hold our words inside
Til the time that we grow old
No tales of broken promises
Or descriptions of our sorrows
No more faded memories
Or the hopes for our tomorrows
We couldn't share our stories
Of the love that didn't last
No more shattered dreams
Or the mistakes in our past
No limericks to make us smile
Laughter would disappear
No more words of comfort
To free us from our fear
Just music without words
The lyrics would be gone
We'd have no need for singers
For there wouldn't be a song
Have you ever stopped to wonder
Just how awful it would be
In a world without rhyme
If we had no poetry
