Words Un-Undone

You say it to be strength
that keeps us mounted on our horses high
You say it to be wisdom
that keeps my eyes from falling blind
You wish to say you speak the truth
You wish not to lie
But it is the false truths
You speak to the world
That keep you up at night

In the dark
You lie alone
Remorse fills your head
You are haunted by the hurtful things you have said
You know you can't undo what has already been done
One cannot un-pull the loaded trigger of a gun

You cannot unsoak what has already been drenched
Salty tears and hungry pain shall still be left
You cannot unbleed the blood you have shed
That knife that cut you is forever dyed red
