Words

My life is dictated by words, both written and said,
Don't do this!Or that!
A weight on my back, an echo in my head,
They grow and grow...And SPLAT!

They land with force,
And fall like a domino wall,
It's their power- that's the source,
That that will cause my great fall,

I want to be free!
Take no orders, be my own,

But-alone and on my own I don't want to be,
I'd like some guidance to me shown,

They build my prison with words, one by one,
Go higher and higher, and higher some more,
They make me, my character, my person,
They make me unstable, confused, and unsure,

To makes things worse, I try to solve,
My world-dictated-by-words-problem
And what do I involve?
Words... I'll always be a victim!

Interesting poem, Elsa. Words can do many things - cause pain, erect walls and confuse. But they can also elevate us to new ways of thinking and bring happiness. It's all in how they're used. Love, Carolyn
