Wonderful
Wolfs entered the chase between primal and tongue
Open mouths, nose guiding the fear that grips their lungs
Nerves stunned in the icy air to no rest nor retreat insight
Driven by survival to rundown prey beyond the twilight
Escape is impossible from these most ravenous of beasts
Running like spirits to a distant calling they thirst to feast
Freewill moves their furry coats through rivers and valleys
Under fallen trees they twist to their grumbling bellies
Life is reduced to moments not taken, to a step mistaken
