wolf watches the couple

The wolf watched the couple from the safety of her well placed lair Balmy night breeze raised up a bit, tossing up the she-woman’s hair. The couple was pretty to watch by the light of the October moon, They turned to go much too soon. The wolf felt anguish as they left, remembering her mate. Not sure where he had gone, wishing she knew his fate. He had disappeared in the spring when the grass was fresh. She would hunt for him until her dying breath.
