Now the golden rods blossom And summer's birds have flown There is a tinge 'pon leaves "Come", before all warmth has gone Here at the front door with a tap Down where the golden rods sway The easterly winds whisk gently 'Cause, "Come" he thought he heard me say Well, now he sees a smile appear A twinkle within her eyes As he whispers, " I thought you said, come!" So many of the fall poems offer a sadness for the onset of winter. Yours, however, brings a joy to the autumn season that is rare and flirtatious, Sara. Living in the south, we don't dread the change of seasons as much as some do. Beautifully written! Hugs, Carolyn
