Within Each Heart

Within each heart
there's an ocean
vast, deep and dark
where waves of emotions rage
with each heartbeat
feelings that stir
like the waves at sea
that rise and fall
and roll with the blowing wind
when a tempest surge

How deep can one drown
in its vastness and depth
when threading through
its dark waters
one must take risk
to swim within its ocean
to discover its wonders
to dive within its pools
and see its beauty

Within each heart
there's a spring
where hope never blurs
with every failure
where love ever blooms
and never dies
where faith keeps growing
like flowers in springtime

How long can one keep
tending to its spring
to sustain its flowing
and ensure that the heart
is always brimming
its cup always full and filled
with essential things

Within each heart
there's a well
where loneliness dwells
and hides its sorrowful face
from the bright rays of the sun
on better days

How to keep it hidden
and stowed away from the light
and keep it in the dark corners
so happiness can stay forever
and reside within its well

Within each heart
there's a whirlpool
that keeps whirling
a force that can't be tamed

How can one control
the beating of the heart
when it flutters like wings

Within each heart
there is a treasure

More precious than anything
