Wishing They Would Say No

She was the queen of nowhere
The expert of not-going-to
The princess of you-can’t-make-me.
Her parents thought this was adorable.

At two it was.
At three not as much.
At four slightly obnoxious.
At five, she was a terror to the kindergarten class.

Her daddy is not as amused today.
She is sixteen, and telling them how it is going to be.
Threatening to commit suicide
Unless she gets her own way, backing her mother down every time.

Her mother is angry with the school, the teachers, and the other students.
Blaming them for ruining her child.
They are bullies she tells people.
People who know who the real bully is.

Her child is stealing the education from others
Keeping her classes in constant uproar.
Throwing chairs and screaming in a dragon’s voice.
Wishing someone would say “no” at home and mean it.

As international students and refugees always told me: In their countries parents told children what to do... :) gw

Is that not amazing? Do you realize that we have 538,000 children in the USA up for adoption? Many because their parents could not handle them and relinquished all rights?

Children are BEGGING for their parents to become parents.
