Wishful Flight

While sitting on a bench
just outside the door
I chanced to see a butterfly
fluttering nearby

Black bold body
with yellow wings spotted
winging its way near
on a morning clear

Wistfully I wished
to be that winged creature
free to fly around
not making a sound

It danced around me
floating in the air
up and down
and all around

For minutes it stayed
near within my grasp
then just as quickly
flew off swiftly

Time seemed frozen
for just few seconds
as I bid farewell
and my heart fell

The day will come when we all fly. Some say that day is when we die. For others, they already know. How to spread wings, and up they go. Hello Deb, just wanted to say high. :)

They fascinate me too Deb, such delicate little thingsdand so beautiful with all different designs on their wings. Lovely verse that reminds me they soon will be here.

Quietly, we sit and ponder. At beautiful flight that makes us wonder. What is it like to fly so free. I wonder if it wonder's what it's like to be me?
