Wishful Flight
While sitting on a bench
just outside the door
I chanced to see a butterfly
fluttering nearby
Black bold body
with yellow wings spotted
winging its way near
on a morning clear
Wistfully I wished
to be that winged creature
free to fly around
not making a sound
It danced around me
floating in the air
up and down
and all around
For minutes it stayed
near within my grasp
then just as quickly
flew off swiftly
Time seemed frozen
for just few seconds
as I bid farewell
and my heart fell
