Winter's Leave

Spring remains reluctant,
Waiting till the winter's through--
For winter, when in season,
Has a needed job to do.
But come the sun, and then the thaw,
Spring asserts itself, and then,
Winter takes its leave, and slumbers,
Till it's called upon again.
