Notes About The Poem

"Winter's Hand"

poem written based upon this image for online poetry class

WINTER'S HAND

whispering ice-lit night turns ever so radiant
air in its blue glow settles into quiet depth
the land rises like an ornate palace of frost
pillars of ice lifting themselves into a silvery chamber
the air glows with cold resonance, a breath-built hall
a quiet cathedral of frost gathers around the traveler

balanced limbs, delicate icicles — a tree hushed in spirit
leaning toward the sojourner with a soft crystalline voice
its presence near, carved by winter’s hand
asking what deep truth the traveler is ready to see
