Winter, Winter

Winter, winter
   frost, wind, snow
full of vigor, full of cold
How icy your face
   which chills my bones;
The past echoes my frozen footfall
   through whipping winds
   I dare not go,
   by farmers' fields
sleeping soft on thy white lap
   winding woods crook and bend
   barren trees, naked and hooked
   I go,
By silver moon, all aglow

Winter, winter,
   frost, wind, snow
full of vigor, full of cold

A warm hearth awaits me
(a cherish to you I owe)
   how icy your face
   which chills my bones

   Shivering!Shivering!
   all the way home

Hi Keith, I came to checkout your first write here and it is gorgeous! I love the content, rhythm, rhyme and your imagery is superb as is your gentle refrain of 'Winter, winter...' which is like a great 'hook' in a song - memorable! Your last two lines also ends this wonderful poem beautifully. A write that I could feel from my skin to my soul. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thanks Charmaine, but you would have to travel all the way from Malta to Ottawa Canada! These days it wouldn't be hard to see such a reflecting moon glow, still a lot of snow.... So we having cappucino when you arrive? Enjoy your weekend!
