Winter Silence

Low gray clouds line the sky no chattering from the squirrels finished with their food gathering only silence tiny snow birds line the fence post the rest gone for the winter not a sound to be heard only silence the snow starts to fall smoke rises from chimney tops the river below runs quietly over the dam still only silence The best time of all is when the snow just begins to fall and everything is cuddling up to brace against the cold then there is only silence.
