Winter Roses 30-10-25

6am. The world is frozen.
I wonder what my dog sees in it.
Breathe in. Shiver.

Barely rising,
the mellow sun -soft fingered-
scratches the clouds golden and pink.

Breathe out,
watch my words solidify,
brief on the rose sky.

Browning leaves underfoot,
pampered with frost, too loud
for dawn’s half-lit silence.

He pants alongside me,
electric sparks;
think I'll stay inside tomorrow.
