Winter Night

Once I would have wanted to explain Now, though, best to cut the losses – nothing here to gain. I’ll say there was a flame to follow through I wanted to believe it could be true Let you in my head; instead, it never flew. The depths to which I bent— Beneath my winter covers I pretended we were lovers Did you get the telepathic messages I sent? A last request, most difficult to make Please help me with the necessary break Delete the traces of my name And let me lay to sleeping dogs the blame. (2012)
