Winter Moonlight
A benumbing, beams forth
What but serves best
To gild, unblest
Late and lone, a dead look;
A death-wish hides.
Or what as soft, o'erspread
The snow reflects:
Tender respects.
Man, with the Earth consoled.
Heart-stilled, abides.
