Written: January 08, 2024 For Tania Kitchin Contest ___________________________________________ A storm swirls, hurling hail and snow, In the bosom of winter, icy storms grow. A scene that is both anarchic and grand, A snowstorm, a shunned marvel of the land.   A whirling maelstrom is a whimsical sight, Whispered mysteries haunt the cold night. By merging their loads, icy crystals collide, Winter chorus is earth-crowning pride. Whispers of wind nurture a peculiar tune, Melodic strains cross-changing boon. Glazing crystals and crumbles sway, An enthralling outlay winter waltz display.

A whirling maelstrom is a whimsical sight, Whispered mysteries haunt the cold night…I used to live in a place where we would see a blizzard but now just glad if we get a little snow. Enjoyed!

To me this is poetry at your best. A wonderful rendition of Winter's magic. You bring the season to life, not just with beautiful descriptions but Winter performs in a magical way exposing such a wondrous display. Hurling hail and snow, and ice crystals colliding and we watch as their crumbles sway. All the while the bitter Winter wind squalling a melodic tune. Perfection.

I like this one very much. I am going to fav it. I like the rhythm, rhyme, and flow within the lines. I like the picture that you chose to go alongside with the goldfinches in the foreground. I do enjoy seeing them in early winter then again in spring. I think they just migrate through here each time. Thanks for the visit to my page. Sara K

My dear friend Sotto.. This poem beautifully captures the essence of a winter storm, painting a vivid picture of nature's chaotic yet grand spectacle. The imagery evoked by the swirling hail and snow in the bosom of winter sets the stage for an anarchic and majestic scene. The description of the snowstorm as a "shunned marvel of the land" adds an intriguing layer, suggesting a certain ambivalence or underappreciation for the marvels that winter brings...

Nice poem. Winter has magical charm. I was wondering how the winter charm will look like to a youth where snow never falls.

Woww, true wintry magic you've infused in this resplendent poem, full of icy splendor and the beauty of white atmosphere.. When the nature covers itself with a cloak of snow & the greenery goes in hibernation.. You've so wonderfully described about the grandeur and marvelous aura of those freezing, yet whimsical storms that cover the earth in a mystical way.."Winter chorus is earth-crowning pride", "Whispered mysteries haunt the cold night" Ah, so brilliantly rhymed with exquisite flow, a FAV :)
