Winter Leave Me Be
Oh, bleak winter leave me be
I cherish not your calling,
I begged you not visit me
As temperatures were falling.
For I cleave unto the Sun,
And its welcome, warming rays
Not the late months of the year
With their short and dismal days.
But that I could hibernate
To awaken when it's warm,
But no, I woke up shivering
On this cold, and frosty morn.
