Winter Evening

Early in the evening
The wood lay white with snow.
Fir trees bowed their branches
Reflecting the sunset’s glow.
Silence lay all around me
As I walked slowly by,
Peace came upon me,
And I felt that God was nigh.
As I passed along that pathway
That led amidst the snow,
I walked, it seemed, in paradise
And no longer here below.
