Notes About The Poem

There is an influx of visitors and returning nationals to our island around the holiday season. Feelings and opinions toward those returning home or visiting from cold climates can vary.

Winter Birds

do you hear
subtle thunderings there,
the arrow shot of fired jumbo jets,

swinging propellers swelling lumps of cold regrets,
or is it all I wanted, a love none forgets,
home to dispossess layers, claim herds,

entice with foreign words...
winter birds
