Winter
Cold snow blanketing frozen earth
Winter holding life in its grasp,
Not letting go December, January, February,
Coldest season white bright with voice rasp.
Preparing, planning, building greenhouse
Winter herbs growing in snow, sleet, and hail,
Encasing the glass structure thick in ice
Wrapped in the thrall of frozen reality veil.
History is the winter solstice, as wintertime
Timeline feels timeless, holding wintry realm,
Timeworn in gray variation as family wintered in Arctic gale
Old Man Winter and Jack Frost reign and win at the helm.
Hope burns bright with the hemlock and blue spruce
Holding on, enjoying Christmas, pretty colorful lights,
Holidays, New Years Day shines bright in new hope
Honoring President’s Day; we know arriving are shorter nights.
